What makes this different
Four things we won’t do, and one we always will.
Most products in this category tell you what they promise. This is the list of things we have decided not to do — and beside each, the test that fails the build if we ever start.
The four, and what holds each
We won’t tell you your odds
No compatibility score. No percentage. No match rating. No verdict on whether this will last.
Not caution — no consumer product can honestly produce one. A number about two people’s future, derived from a self-report questionnaire, is a guess in a confident font. The friction band we do show is labelled descriptive, not predictive, on every surface that renders it, and the text beside it says so in words.
Held byAutomated tests of every public page’s words, before every releaseHelp is never behind a payment
Get help now is free at every tier, including signed out, including people who will never pay us anything. Seventy verified organisations across sixteen categories.
It stores nothing. No account, no cookie, no analytics, no server log of any answer. That is not a policy — it is asserted by an automated test that fails the build if it ever stops being true.
We will never monetise any category that appears in it. Abuse, suicide, debt, housing, safeguarding. Never.
Held byAutomated tests, and a walk in a real browser, before every releaseWe won’t keep you here
No streaks. No badges. No notifications engineered to pull you back in.
A product about your relationship that competes for attention with your relationship has already failed. Maintenance takes ten seconds a day and we would rather you spent the rest of it on each other.
If you stop using it, nothing breaks and nothing nags.
Held byAutomated tests, before every releaseWe won’t flatter you
Your profile includes what your pattern costs the person living with you. The Blind Spot module shows you the gap between how your partner sees you and how you see yourself, which is the most uncomfortable page in the report.
A reading that only flatters you is a horoscope.
Held bya promise, not a test — the profiles are written to say what a pattern costs the person living with it
The one we always will
We will tell you what it can’t do
Every legal instrument in the product says what the document cannot achieve as prominently as what it can. The agreement you write here has no legal force and says so on every page and in every export.
You can take everything you have written and leave, at any time, and deletion means deletion.
Why this is a page and not a footnote
Anyone can write a list of promises. These cost us: the score is what people expect, the notifications are what retention is built on, and flattery is what makes a profile pleasant to read.
We would rather be the product a sceptical person can stand.
