Terms of service
Version 2026-09-01 · covers the private pilot of Terms of Us
Who we are, and what this covers
Terms of Us is made by Thyself Empowered Ltd. These terms cover the private pilot: a small, invitation-only instance behind a passphrase. Nothing is billed during the pilot, and no payment details are collected. When the service launches commercially, these terms will be replaced and you will be shown the new ones — nothing changes silently.
What the service is
Two people each answer the Sounding, forty-eight statements about how they are in close relationships. Each gets their own survey; together they can see a combined structural report, and then write down the terms of their relationship as an agreement they maintain. Underneath all of it sits Get help now, which is free to everyone, always, and stores nothing.
We will not tell you your odds. The product never produces a compatibility percentage, a match score, or a prediction about whether you will last — descriptive, not predictive, is a rule of the product, not a style choice.
Your agreement is yours — and it is not a contract
The relationship agreement you write in Terms of Us is a record of what you both meant, made to be kept and revisited. It is not a legal contract, we do not claim it is enforceable, and nothing in the product creates legal relations between you and your partner or gives us any role in your relationship. If you want something with legal force — a cohabitation agreement, a will, a lasting power of attorney — see a solicitor; the product will point at the right instruments, and a person qualified to draft them.
Terms of Us is not therapy, not counselling, not medical care and not legal advice, and it does not replace any of them.
Accounts
- You must be 18 or over. We ask you to declare it; we never ask your date of birth.
- One account per person, with an email address you control. There are no passwords — sign-in is by emailed link or Google.
- Answer as yourself. The product is worthless filled in as someone else, and cruel if used to impersonate them.
- Your partner joins by invitation. Witnesses, where a plan allows them, see only the signed agreement — nothing else.
What we ask
- Do not use the service to monitor, pressure or control another person. It is built to make that hard; where its own safety check indicates an abusive dynamic, couples-work is suppressed.
- Do not attempt to reach another person’s answers. The system never shows them to you, whatever either of you asks.
- Do not probe, overload or attack the service, and do not use it to break the law.
Safety is never paywalled
Get help now is free at every plan, including no plan at all. Reset and parting flows open on one click, without a card, for anyone in hardship. No crisis, breach, reset or parting flow ever carries an upgrade prompt — that is asserted by automated tests, not promised by this page.
Our responsibility, plainly
We take real care with your data and your experience, and this page and the privacy notice say exactly what we do. What we cannot do is take responsibility for the decisions you and your partner make about your relationship — those are yours. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer, or excludes liability we are not allowed to exclude, including for negligence causing death or personal injury, or for fraud.
The pilot is provided free, as a work in progress, and may be changed, paused or ended. If the pilot ends, pilot data is deleted unless you ask to carry it forward — see data retention.
Leaving
You can delete your account at any time, from the account page, immediately, without asking anyone. What deletion removes, and what your partner keeps of what you both signed, is stated before you confirm and explained in the privacy notice. We can close accounts that break the asks above; if we ever do, your data rights survive the closure.
One more honest note on scope
Terms of Us is a closed workspace for two people, plus a handful of invited witnesses on one plan. There is no feed, no discovery, and no content from strangers. We treat the service as outside the Online Safety Act 2023’s user-to-user scope on that basis — and we say so here precisely because it is an assumption, not yet an answer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — without taking away any protection or forum your local consumer law gives you.
